Dr. Rubinstein began clinical practice in 1993, and then joined a growing hospital-owned group practice in 1994. He was eventually elected Chairperson of the Governance Council of this large multi-specialty group, comprised of 45 physicians in 7 locations. In 1999 he established a solo practice with the goal of providing quality health care using an integrative approach to healing and wellness. Dr. Rubinstein has always believed effective communication and trust are the cornerstone of the doctor patient relationship. He is skilled in psychopharmacology and can treat patients with a wide range of medical problems, including addiction to prescription painkillers and heroin. He is certified by the US DEA to prescribe Buprenoprhine for patients addicted to opioids.

Dr. Rubinstein graduated from the University of Illinois at Champaign/Urbana cum laude with a BA in Medicine & Society. He designed that major via the Independent Plan of Study path in the College of LAS. He went on to graduate from Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City. He completed his Internship in Internal Medicine at The New York Hospital, and then was Resident of the Year as he finished his Residency at Rush Medical Center in Chicago, IL. Dr. Rubinstein's undergraduate coursework at the University of Illinois, which included courses offered to medical students, included core disciplines of Medical Sociology, Medical Anthropology, Speech Communication, Medical Ethics, and Health Care Economics.
